The WTO secretariat maintains a limited internship programme for post-graduate university students wishing to gain practical experience and deeper knowledge of the multilateral trading system. Only a limited number of such internship posts is available.

The OECD periodically accepts graduate students whose area of study is directly related to the OECD's work programme as unpaid trainees. Acceptance to a specific office occurs on a need basis, subject to fluctuation from year to year. Beyond need, the OECD also strives to match candidate profiles while maintaining an equal representation of Member countries. Competition for traineeships is very strong, especially during the summer months. French nationals are the most frequent applicants, making their admission particularly competitive.

Since the OECD has a primary interest in economics, this is where the majority of openings for traineeships are situated. The most commonly accepted candidates have a strong economic background and are currently enrolled in University. International experience and languages, English and French in particular, also help while working in an international organisation such as the OECD.

Participants in the Internship Programmes will have the opportunity to put into practice and deepen their theoretical knowledge of the International Criminal Court as an institution. More specifically, the Programmes will afford them the opportunity to develop a more profound understanding of the operation of the Court and of the challenges it faces. The Permanent Court of Arbitration offers internships to individuals with outstanding academic records who wish to acquire work experience at an international arbitration institution. Interns are expected to participate to the greatest extent possible in the regular functioning of the organization. To that end, the PCA aims to offer a balance of legal and administrative assignments (e.g., case management). As such, interns gain insight into both the practical and legal aspects of international arbitration.

The European Council on Refugees & Exiles (ECRE) is an organisation established in 1974 for co-operation between 78 non-governmental organisations in Europe concerned with refugees. ECRE's objective is to promote through joint analysis, research and information exchange, a humane and generous asylum policy in Europe. The participants of the internship programmes at TI-S should share and support the vision, mission and values of the TI movement and the general principles of TI-Secretariat as laid down in its Code of Conduct. All interns should sign two Statements of Acknowledgement of the Code of Conduct and of the Drug-free Workplace Policy and return them to the Human Resources Department.

Aufgaben: one-third secretarial/administrative work (filing, mailing, copying, etc.); one-third standard office proceedings (correspondence, editing of articles for TI publications (Newsletter, National Chapter Bulletin, etc), correspondence as instructed by the responsible manager; one-third substantive project work to be carried out as autonomously as possible and over an extended period of time.
